2022 vs New Normal™ for women of all ages in Yukon

  1. 133 of 133 total deaths were from All Causes
  2. 99.99% of all deaths were from All Causes
  3. This is up 37% compared to Old Normal rates.
  4. 97 of 97 total deaths would have been expected under Old Normal conditions.
  5. 36 excess deaths from All Causes in 2022.
  6. 228 excess deaths from All Causes (2015-2022)
  1. To show this year’s deaths from All Causes are up 37% compared to Old Normal rates, we need to calculate the rates for both 2022 and for the Old Normal.

Remember, death rates are calculated to answer these questions:

  • “How many women of all ages were there?” and
  • “How many of them died from All Causes?”

The following 2 charts provide this information:

Deaths – All Causes – Female – Of All Ages | Yukon, Canada

Graph showing Deaths - All Causes - Female - Of All Ages | Yukon, Canada

Population – Female – Of All Ages – [2000-2022] | Yukon, Canada

Graph showing Population - Female - Of All Ages - [2000-2022] | Yukon, Canada

From the charts, we can see that in 2022, 133 of 21,864 women of all ages living in Yukon died from All Causes.

133 ÷ 21,864 = 0.00608 (2022 CDR)

We’ll use the table below to calculate our Old Normal rate for deaths from All Causes

Totals:
243,137
1,078
1,078

The table shows there were a total of 1,078 deaths from All Causes among 243,137 women of all ages living in Yukon in the 15 years immediately prior to the New Normal™.

1,078 ÷ 243,137 = 0.00443 (Old Normal CDR)

We can use the Old Normal rate to predict this year’s deaths:

2022 pop X Old Normal CDR = expected deaths

21,864 X 0.00443 = 97 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths shows lives saved or lost:

13397 = 36

Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths gives us the comparative rates:

133 ÷ 97 = 1.3689

This reveals 36 lives lost and is 136.89% of what we expected (an increase of 37%) in deaths from All Causes among women of all ages living in Yukon in 2022, as compared to the Old Normal.

This is the same method used by Public Health to calculate the 5-yr CDR (Cumulative Death Rate):

810 ÷ 139,506 = 0.00581 (5-yr CDR)

21,864(2022 pop) X 0.00581 = 127 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths:

133127 = 6 or 6 lives lost

Divide actual deaths by expected deaths:

133 ÷ 127 = 1.0459 or an increase of 5%

for deaths from All Causes among women of all ages living in Yukon in 2022, as compared to the previous 5 years.

Compare our Old Normal to the 5yr CDR. Does it tell the same story your TV does?

Finally, the same method can also be used to compare our Old Normal rate to the New Normal™ rate:

New Normal™ population X Old Normal rate = expected deaths

161,370 X 0.00443 = 715 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths:

943715 = 228 or 228 lives lost

Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths:

943 ÷ 715 = 1.3151 or an increase of 32%

in deaths from All Causes among women of all ages living in Yukon in the New Normal™, as compared to the Old Normal.

The world has been led to believe that a deadly pandemic swept the globe beginning in 2020, causing an increase in death rates, especially among the elderly

The data show that death rates began to increase in 2015, immediately upon implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, that young adults have experienced ever-increasing death rates since, and that death rates among the elderly have remained relatively stable.
