2022 vs New Normal™ for elderly women aged 90+ in Newfoundland

    1. 570 of 570 total deaths were from All Causes
    2. 100.00% of all deaths were from All Causes
    3. This is up 27% compared to Old Normal rates.

    6. 342 excess deaths from All Causes (2015-2022)
    1. To show this year’s deaths from All Causes are up 27% compared to Old Normal rates, we need to calculate the rates for both 2022 and for the Old Normal.

Remember, death rates are calculated to answer these questions:

    • “How many elderly women aged 90+ were there?” and
    • “How many of them died from All Causes?”

The following 2 charts provide this information:

    Deaths – All Causes – Female – Aged 90+ | Newfoundland, Canada

Graph showing Deaths - All Causes - Female - Aged 90+ | Newfoundland, Canada

    Population – Female – Aged 90+ – [2000-2022] | Newfoundland, Canada

    Graph showing Population - Female - Aged 90+ - [2000-2022] | Newfoundland, Canada

From the charts, we can see that in 2022, 570 of 2,498 elderly women aged 90+ living in Newfoundland died from All Causes.

    570 ÷ 2,498 = 0.22818 (2022 CDR)

    Population
    Deaths
    All Causes

    Totals:
    26,788
    4,806
    4,806

The table shows there were a total of 4,806 deaths from All Causes among 26,788 elderly women aged 90+ living in Newfoundland in the 15 years immediately prior to the New Normal™.

    4,806 ÷ 26,788 = 0.17941 (Old Normal CDR)

We can use the Old Normal rate to predict this year’s deaths:

2022 pop X Old Normal CDR = expected deaths

    2,498 X 0.17941 = 448 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths shows lives saved or lost:

    570448 = 122

Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths gives us the comparative rates:

    570 ÷ 448 = 1.2718

This reveals 122 lives lost and is 127.18% of what we expected (an increase of 27%) in deaths from All Causes among elderly women aged 90+ living in Newfoundland in 2022, as compared to the Old Normal.

This is the same method used by Public Health to calculate the 5-yr CDR (Cumulative Death Rate):

    3,276 ÷ 17,031 = 0.19236 (5-yr CDR)

    2,498(2022 pop) X 0.19236 = 481 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths:

    570481 = 89 or 89 lives lost

Divide actual deaths by expected deaths:

    570 ÷ 481 = 1.1862 or an increase of 19%

for deaths from All Causes among elderly women aged 90+ living in Newfoundland in 2022, as compared to the previous 5 years.

Compare our Old Normal to the 5yr CDR. Does it tell the same story your TV does?

Finally, the same method can also be used to compare our Old Normal rate to the New Normal™ rate:

New Normal™ population X Old Normal rate = expected deaths

    19,529 X 0.17941 = 3,504 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths:

    38463,504 = 342 or 342 lives lost

Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths:

    3,846 ÷ 3,504 = 1.0976 or an increase of 10%

in deaths from All Causes among elderly women aged 90+ living in Newfoundland in the New Normal™, as compared to the Old Normal.

The world has been led to believe that a deadly pandemic swept the globe beginning in 2020, causing an increase in death rates, especially among the elderly

The data show that death rates began to increase in 2015, immediately upon implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, that young adults have experienced ever-increasing death rates since, and that death rates among the elderly have remained relatively stable.
