2022 vs New Normal™ for elderly men aged 80+ in Louisiana

    1. 7,372 of 7,372 total deaths were from All Causes
    2. 100.00% of all deaths were from All Causes
    3. This is up 1% compared to Old Normal rates.
    4. 7,326 of 7,326 total deaths would have been expected under Old Normal conditions.
    5. 46 excess deaths from All Causes in 2022.
    6. 959 excess deaths from All Causes (2015-2022)
    1. To show this year’s deaths from All Causes are up 1% compared to Old Normal rates, we need to calculate the rates for both 2022 and for the Old Normal.

Remember, death rates are calculated to answer these questions:

    • “How many elderly men aged 80+ were there?” and
    • “How many of them died from All Causes?”

The following 2 charts provide this information:

    Deaths – All Causes – Male – Aged 80+ | Louisiana, United-states

    Graph showing Deaths - All Causes - Male - Aged 80+ | Louisiana, United-states

    Graph showing Population - Male - Aged 80+ - [2000-2022] | Louisiana, United-states

From the charts, we can see that in 2022, 7,372 of 35,475 elderly men aged 80+ living in Louisiana died from All Causes.

    7,372 ÷ 35,475 = 0.20781 (2022 CDR)

    Totals:
    428,002
    88,391
    88,391

The table shows there were a total of 88,391 deaths from All Causes among 428,002 elderly men aged 80+ living in Louisiana in the 15 years immediately prior to the New Normal™.

    88,391 ÷ 428,002 = 0.20652 (Old Normal CDR)

We can use the Old Normal rate to predict this year’s deaths:

2022 pop X Old Normal CDR = expected deaths

    35,475 X 0.20652 = 7,326 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths shows lives saved or lost:

    7,3727,326 = 46

Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths gives us the comparative rates:

    7,372 ÷ 7,326 = 1.0062

This reveals 46 lives lost and is 100.62% of what we expected (an increase of 1%) in deaths from All Causes among elderly men aged 80+ living in Louisiana in 2022, as compared to the Old Normal.

This is the same method used by Public Health to calculate the 5-yr CDR (Cumulative Death Rate):

    49,614 ÷ 235,816 = 0.21039 (5-yr CDR)

    35,475(2022 pop) X 0.21039 = 7,464 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths:

    7,3727,464 = -92 or 92 lives saved

Divide actual deaths by expected deaths:

    7,372 ÷ 7,464 = 0.9877 or a decrease of 1%

for deaths from All Causes among elderly men aged 80+ living in Louisiana in 2022, as compared to the previous 5 years.

Compare our Old Normal to the 5yr CDR. Does it tell the same story your TV does?

Finally, the same method can also be used to compare our Old Normal rate to the New Normal™ rate:

New Normal™ population X Old Normal rate = expected deaths

    271,291 X 0.20652 = 56,027 expected deaths

The difference between actual and expected deaths:

    5698656,027 = 959 or 959 lives lost

Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths:

    56,986 ÷ 56,027 = 1.0171 or an increase of 2%

in deaths from All Causes among elderly men aged 80+ living in Louisiana in the New Normal™, as compared to the Old Normal.

The world has been led to believe that a deadly pandemic swept the globe beginning in 2020, causing an increase in death rates, especially among the elderly

The data show that death rates began to increase in 2015, immediately upon implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, that young adults have experienced ever-increasing death rates since, and that death rates among the elderly have remained relatively stable.
