- There were a total of 32,823 deaths in Alberta in 2022
- 15,123 of all deaths were among females
- 3,882 of all deaths were among those aged 80-84
- 1,788 of all deaths were among elderly women aged 80-84
1,788 deaths from All Causes were among elderly women aged 80-84
2022 vs New Normal™ for elderly women aged 80-84 in Alberta
- 1,788 of 1,788 total deaths were from All Causes
- 100.00% of all deaths were from All Causes
- This is down 7% compared to Old Normal rates.
- 1,922 of 1,922 total deaths would have been expected under Old Normal conditions.
- 134 fewer than expected deaths from All Causes in 2022.
- 1,361 fewer than expected deaths from All Causes (2015-2022)
- To show this year’s deaths from All Causes are down 7% compared to Old Normal rates, we need to calculate the rates for both 2022 and for the Old Normal.
Remember, death rates are calculated to answer these questions:
- “How many elderly women aged 80-84 were there?” and
- “How many of them died from All Causes?”
The following 2 charts provide this information:
Deaths – All Causes – Female – Aged 80-84 | Alberta, Canada
Population – Female – Aged 80-84 – [2001-2022] | Alberta, Canada
From the charts, we can see that in 2022, 1,788 of 41,458 elderly women aged 80-84 living in Alberta died from All Causes.
1,788 ÷ 41,458 = 0.04313 (2022 CDR)
Deaths/100,000 female 80-84 from All Causes
The table shows there were a total of 19,808 deaths from All Causes among 427,366 elderly women aged 80-84 living in Alberta in the 14 years immediately prior to the New Normal™.
19,808 ÷ 427,366 = 0.04635 (Old Normal CDR)
We can use the Old Normal rate to predict this year’s deaths:
2022 pop X Old Normal CDR = expected deaths
41,458 X 0.04635 = 1,922 expected deaths
The difference between actual and expected deaths shows lives saved or lost:
1,788 – 1,922 = -134
Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths gives us the comparative rates:
1,788 ÷ 1,922 = 0.9303
This reveals 134 lives saved and is 93.03% of what we expected (a decrease of 7%) in deaths from All Causes among elderly women aged 80-84 living in Alberta in 2022, as compared to the Old Normal.
This is the same method used by Public Health to calculate the 5-yr CDR (Cumulative Death Rate):
10,576 ÷ 254,661 = 0.04153 (5-yr CDR)
41,458(2022 pop) X 0.04153 = 1,722 expected deaths
The difference between actual and expected deaths:
1,788 – 1,722 = 66 or 66 lives lost
Divide actual deaths by expected deaths:
1,788 ÷ 1,722 = 1.0382 or an increase of 4%
for deaths from All Causes among elderly women aged 80-84 living in Alberta in 2022, as compared to the previous 5 years.
Compare our Old Normal to the 5yr CDR. Does it tell the same story your TV does?
Finally, the same method can also be used to compare our Old Normal rate to the New Normal™ rate:
New Normal™ population X Old Normal rate = expected deaths
296,119 X 0.04635 = 13,725 expected deaths
The difference between actual and expected deaths:
12364 – 13,725 = -1,361 or 1,361 lives saved
Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths:
12,364 ÷ 13,725 = 0.9007 or a decrease of 10%
in deaths from All Causes among elderly women aged 80-84 living in Alberta in the New Normal™, as compared to the Old Normal.
The world has been led to believe that a deadly pandemic swept the globe beginning in 2020, causing an increase in death rates, especially among the elderly
The data show that death rates began to increase in 2015, immediately upon implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, that young adults have experienced ever-increasing death rates since, and that death rates among the elderly have remained relatively stable.
