- To show this year’s deaths from Unknown Causes are up 74% compared to Old Normal rates, we need to calculate the rates for both 2022 and for the Old Normal.
Remember, death rates are calculated to answer these questions:
- “How many pre-school boys aged 0-4 were there?” and
- “How many of them died from Unknown Causes?”

From the charts, we can see that in 2022, 24 of 131,584 pre-school boys aged 0-4 living in Alberta died from Unknown Causes.

The table shows there were a total of 153 deaths from Unknown Causes among 1,617,846 pre-school boys aged 0-4 living in Alberta in the 14 years immediately prior to the New Normal™.
153 ÷ 1,617,846 = 0.00009 (Old Normal CDR)
We can use the Old Normal rate to predict this year’s deaths:
2022 pop X Old Normal CDR = expected deaths
131,584 X 0.00009 = 12 expected deaths
The difference between actual and expected deaths shows lives saved or lost:
24 – 12 = 12
Dividing the actual deaths by the expected deaths gives us the comparative rates:
24 ÷ 12 = 1.7442
This reveals 12 lives lost and is 174.42% of what we expected (an increase of 74%) in deaths from Unknown Causes among pre-school boys aged 0-4 living in Alberta in 2022, as compared to the Old Normal.
This is the same method used by Public Health to calculate the 5-yr CDR (Cumulative Death Rate):
148 ÷ 964,454 = 0.00015 (5-yr CDR)
131,584(2022 pop) X 0.00015 = 20 expected deaths
The difference between actual and expected deaths:
24 – 20 = 4 or 4 lives lost
Divide actual deaths by expected deaths:

The data show that death rates began to increase in 2015, immediately upon implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, that young adults have experienced ever-increasing death rates since, and that death rates among the elderly have remained relatively stable.
